The Senate enjoyed an excited and inspiring first day of the legislative session this year. President Biggs called the Senate to order promptly at noon, beginning the opening ceremony.
Members began with a prayer led by Pastor Samson Dunn of the Catalyst Church of Phoenix, before the presentation of the colors by the Luke Air Force Honor Guard. James and Jaxon Bower led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Senate was also honored to host the Phoenix Symphony Brass Quintet, who played the National Anthem. The Quintet also delighted members with a few renditions of some classical favorites from Bach and other composers. Lastly, Members were inspired by the words of Jay Feely, the placekicker for the Arizona Cardinals, who spoke to the blessings of God and the need for the members to do the right thing for the State of Arizona.
